Athina Galati

Lives and works in Athens

Athina Galati is a visual artist based in Athens, Greece. Her practice is rooted in painting and drawing, tracing a lifelong commitment to line, form, and the quiet observation of everyday life. From an early age, she has been captivated by the poetry of fleeting moments, movement on the street, a passing glance, or the stillness of nature.

Working primarily with acrylics, Galati begins each work through direct observation and sketching outdoors, later developing these impressions into finished pieces in her studio. Her paintings explore themes of freedom, human connection, and the delicate balance between solitude and togetherness. Through spontaneous gestures and fluid forms, she seeks to capture moments when a person experiences true freedom, close to nature, beside loved ones, or immersed in a sense of belonging.

Since 2015, Galati has collaborated on major film and theatre productions, contributing her artistic sensibility to large-scale creative projects across cinema, television, and stage. These experiences have deepened her belief in collaboration and communication as vital elements of artistic practice.

Of half-Palestinian half-Greek heritage, Galati’s work subtly engages with social themes, using symbolism and movement to evoke ideas of contact, separation, and the search for connection without overt political commentary. Her upcoming solo exhibition, *Fragments in Deep Blue* (June 2025), will explore the “lost communication of our times,” continuing her fascination with experimentation, materiality, and the interplay between intimacy and distance.

Balancing detail with overall impression, observation with vision, Athina Galati’s art resonates as both personal reflection and universal expression.
